If you want trust you have to be transparent. You have to be transparent with your customers, you have to show them that you are not hiding anything from them.
Be willing to answer questions
Be it on social media or via a phone call, you and your employees should answer your customers questions honestly. Answering a question with “I don’t know the answer” or by not answering leaves your customer with the perception that you are lying to them.
Answering a customer’s question shows that you are being transparent and authentic.
Build relationships with customers
Don’t just sell to your customer, find out your customers wants and needs, build a relationship with them.
When you build a relationship with a customer your brand is no longer a stranger to them, but a friend. Friends are loyal.
Listen to feedback
When you receive feedback via social media, your help page or in person. Listen to your customers, you can learn a lot from them; their perception of your company and brand. Their feedback can help you fix or improve things you probably are not even aware of and make your company and brand that much stronger.
Testimonials show new customers what current customers are saying about your company.
Display great customer reviews on your social media and website. This helps re-enforce the fact that current customers trust you so much that they are willing to promote your company and brand for you to others.
Don’t delete negative customer comments or reviews, answer them in a constructive manner. Show how your company fixes problems. Show the customer that you are listening, that you want to make things right, that you care.
It may seem like a lot of work to create a brand that is honest and trustworthy. But, isn’t that what we all want in the end, to work with someone we can trust, someone who is honest.
